ICT and the MYP
Access to high quality ICT equipment and services is an essential element of the education your student receives at Woodleigh. We are proud of the Woodleigh MacBook program at the Senior Campus and the level of service we provide. This doesn’t mean we always get it right but we do strive to support students as best possible in their educational journey.
As we move towards our accreditation as an IB school, I wanted to draw attention to links between high-quality ICT facilities and the MYP. The IB learning profile encourages IB students to strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open Minded, Caring, Risk Takers, Balanced and Reflective. Whilst ICT is not specifically mentioned in the learner profile, it actively supports many of these attributes. High quality ICT enables students to research and learn independently (Inquirers), engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance (Knowledgeable), express themselves creatively and collaborate effectively (Communicators), explore new ideas and innovative strategies (Risk-Takers) and more.
I recently provided all families with a copy of the Student ICT User Agreements:
INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES (ICT) USER AGREEMENT Policy and INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES (ICT) USER AGREEMENT Student Commitments the MacBook Agreement Y7-9 and MacBook Agreement Y10-12. These agreements help the school manage the provision of ICT equipment and services to your student and to support initiatives such as the MYP.
We look forward to continuing to support students in their MYP journey.
