Accessing Quality Resources for Remote Learning

As the School moves to online and remote learning, let’s look at the ways that students can access online information and resources, safely and securely.

The best place to start is the Norman Library Portal on SEQTA.

Students can access the portal from the SEQTA Welcome page – just click on the big green ‘Library’, and this will go directly to the portal. Alternatively, students can scroll through the left-hand menu bar to the Woodleigh Portals tab, click and find the Norman Library link, and click again.

Students can also access The Age via Newsbank using the link on the Welcome page.

The Norman Library Portal provides access to a wide range of digital resources for staff and students. Login and Password information is included for resources, if required.

The digital resources are:

Oliver – Library catalogue. Physical resources held in our libraries, and use Search Other Sources to find resources on Clickview, Gale Reference Library, and other libraries around Victoria and Australia;

Wheelers ePlatform – 5000+ digital ebooks and audiobooks;

ClickView Digital Video Library – 1000s of educational videos, many of which include worksheets or interactive questions;

Newsbank – access to text-only articles from newspapers from Australia and the World. Provides access to Newsbank HotTopics, and The Age Image edition (also accessible from the Welcome page of SEQTA);

ECHO Online – curated analysis of issues in the Australian news. Includes topic overviews, arguments for and against, further reading and much more.

Gale Virtual Reference Library – access to 1000s of articles and chapters in reference texts and journals from around the world;

Trove – search the National Library Australia from the comfort of your computer.

Ergo @ SLV – the State Library of Victoria History portal. The State Library of Victoria provides FREE access to its extensive collections
