YEAR 9 ENGLISH MEDIA WATCH TASK

Students were asked to consider:

Short, sharp, engaging videos have become a new normal in the way we consume news and content. Often presented in a combination of a fast-talking speaker, images, words, CAPITLISED WORDS, BOLD AND CAPITALISED WORDS, and snappy editing, all of this gives our apparently very busy generation what we need – bite size news that we can consume anywhere.

Students were asked to produce a 'Media Watch' episode of their own, analysing media texts that used language and visuals to persuade their audiences. They were asked to analyse coverage of the following in order to produce their own Media Watch episode.

  • Sco-Mo’s Hawaiian Trip
  • Coverage of the Bushfires
  • Return to School During the COVID-19 Crisis
  • Climate Change
  • The Importance of Creative Expression
  • Or An Issue of Their Choice
