COLLABORATION, CERAMICS, AND SO MUCH MORE IN THE ART ROOM

Celebration Collaboration, Ceramics and so much more in the Art Room

Foundation has made a collaborative mural as part of their unit of inquiry, ‘Products and services meet the needs of the community.’ Each student chose a shop they would like to collage and carefully considered what people would see in their windows. They made their papers using textured rubbing plates and inks.

Years 1 and 2 completed beautiful Threads and Textiles works by printing around a stencil they had made. They now know how to thread a needle and sew running stitches. They added thoughtful embellishments to enhance their artwork.

Year 3 and 4 The prestigious Archibald Portrait Prize is coming to Mornington Regional Gallery from 15 September – 5 November. We have our young Archies exhibition in the Art room and Staffroom. Year 3 and 4 students used drawing, painting and techniques to create texture to make a portrait of a person that inspires them.

Year 5 made creatures out of clay. They learned how to make slabs out of clay, cut out symmetrical forms and lay them over newspaper to give their animals height. These were bisque fired, then students glazed and fired them a second time.

Year 6 students have looked at ‘How the world works’ in their Inquiry Unit, particularly the design of structures and how various factors influence them. They made colourful paper sculptures inspired by Alexander Calder’s work. They are working on art pieces inspired by Ugo Rondinone’s ‘Human Nature’ exhibition.
